New Doctor's companion announced!!!

So, Matt Smith's companion for the next series of Doctor Who has been announced, and with a publicity photo, although the character's name has yet to be announced.



So, it's lucky they had a photo of her, since I have no idea who she is, lol. I looked her up on IMDB.com and she seems to be a pretty low-key actress, only had about half a dozen other roles in her career.

Karen Gillan:



I have to say I was kinda hoping for more variety in Matt Smith's companions, rather than yet more present-day human women. Although, it still could be different. Although it's obviously apparent this is a women, she could still be from the past or future, and despite looking human she could still be from another planet.

Your last paragraph is my thoughts exactly... I'll see what she's like, but I'd love an older and/or male companion, just for variety!

Yeah, I mean we've had Donaa, who was slighty older, and then there was Jack, but he's never been a proper companion (ie. stayed for a whole series). It'd just be nice to have a bit more variety than young 21st century women. I will be interested to see what she will be like though (and am kinda hanging on to the hope that she will at least be from another time period, or is a human-looking alien).
