Well it's that time of year again, February 1st, the anniversary of Richey Edward's disappearance, it's been 10 years since he went missing now, gone but not forgotten, I've made a little art piece to put on DA to remember him by and mark the 10 years gone, and I found an article about it, about how the Manics and Richey's family are going to get together and remember him:

Manic breaks silence 10 years on Jan 30 2005

MANIC Street Preacher Nicky Wire has spoken for the first time about the disappearance of troubled guitarist Richey Edwards .

On the 10th anniversary since Richey went missing, Nicky toldNME magazine he and bandmates James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore have no special plans for the day but will share special memories.

"We'll remember something funny or stupid or sad. That's the impossibility of the situation anyway, there's no centred thing to fix yourself on," he said.

Richey's disappearance has baffled his family, fans and friends for a decade.

The 27-year-old vanished without trace on February 1, 1995, just as the band were due to tour America. Sixteen days later his car was recovered in the car park of Aust Services near the Severn Bridge - a notorious suicide spot.

There have been no confirmed sightings since although many people have claimed to have seen him in India.

Wire said the anniversary is always a personal thing between the three Blackwood band members and Richey's parents and sister, who have never given up hope he is still alive.

His mum Sherry and dad Graham, who are from Blackwood, refuse to release the £3m royalties from the Manics' record sales.

Recalling Richey's sense of humour, Wire said: "He did this Michael Jackson moonwalk on a pub table in London to celebrate getting a Top 20 hit.

"Once we did two gigs in a row and he peaked too early and fell asleep on stage. He woke up during the guitar solo and stage-dived straight off.

"Luckily, it was on to grass - I've got this image of him getting up from the grass with bits of mud in his hair and his eyeliner, and his nose, all brown. There's many more good memories than bad."

The Manics, who performed in front of more than 60,000 fans at the tsunami benefit concert last Saturday, have just added an extra guitarist to their live line-up.

Wire admitted it wasn't easy to appoint Guy Massey.

"It was a difficult decision but we just needed one, desperately. We always have done," he said.

"Guy has engineered a lot of our records. We've known him since '96 maybe. It's not like he's replacing Richey, nothing's ever going to replace Richey. It's just a musical thing."

Stay Beautiful,
