I just had to give a quick journal shout out to Moffat and co-creator Gatiss' mini series Sherlock. Alright, I know we're only on the first episode of three so far, but it is still pretty awesome already, and I am already looking forward to parts two and three so much!
I'll admit I wasn't sure on whether to watch this or not, and if it hadn't have been made by Moffat and Gatiss I certainly wouldn't have. I've never been a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, mostly because I generally dislike murder mysteries and related stuff like that (with the exception of Jonathon Creek). But now I am so glad I gave it a try. Sherlock (the character) actually kind of irked me for the first 30 minutes or so, and I almost gave up on it then, which luckily I didn't because it just got better and better.
The way Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock actually reminds me SO much of Matt Smith's Doctor. Which I guess makes sense considering they're both written primarily by the same person. That was all I could think through some parts of it, especially during his deductive ramblings in the same way the Doctor does technobabble ramblings (both of whom are usually doing it for the benefit of those less intelligent than themselves). Martin Freeman was also pretty impressive as Watson.
Roll on next Sunday!
