Feb. 19th, 2005 01:48 amWell the fox hunting ban here in England and Wales has finally been activated, from today it is illegal to hunt foxes using hounds, the bill also includes other animals such as rabbits, deer and badgers.
Many people (inc me) thought this bill would never pass since it had been put off time and time again over the years, and it was feared the house of lords would overturn the bill, but they didn't and it has finally been activated.
I am soooooo pleased about this, I have been waiting for this day for years, one more small victory for animals.
On the down side to this bill is the tragic fact that now all the hounds used for hunting will be unwanted and either go to kennels or be put to sleep, but I still think in the long run that this bill will save countless lives, of both foxes and hounds since the hounds would have suffered the same fate anyway when they got to old to hunt anymore, and more pups would be bred only to suffer the same fate when they got old, and so on, so although these dogs fates are uncertain at the moment at least this bill will prevent this happening to more hounds in the future and of course saving hundreds of foxes (and other animals) lives, and at least some of these dogs will probably be adopted into loving homes.
In other great news, I haven't been online the last couple of days because my monitor broke down, when I turned it on it was just a black screen with a white line going through it :/ well anyway, I got a new one, a flatscreen one, I have never had a flatscreen monitor before, it's so much better, more clear that the old one, I just love it.
It only cost £169 which is still a lot but much cheaper than I though flatscreens would cost so I was able to buy one straight away (well actually my mum bought it for me since I can't leave the house yet, I am paying her back for it).
The only thing about it that will take a little getting used to is that pictures (drawing, photos, ect) appear smaller on this screen (about half the size) than on my old monitor, so I'm working on a new pic, my first one since getting the monitor, and I have to remember to draw everything about half the size that I used to to get it the same size as it would be on my old monitor (if that makes sense XD) because if I drew it the same size as I did on my old monitor it would appear much larger to people who still have the other type of monitor..... Ok even I am confused now!
But anyway, back to my pic,
Stay Beautiful,
Aissa.
