Missing cat equals freaked guardian.

I am so stressed right now. Our youngest cat companion Giles has gone missing, he has been gone for over 2 days now. Which doesn't sounds like much, but he's never been away for more than a few hours before.

While he has got a tag on his collar I'm not actually sure if that should be a worry or a comfort.
On the one hand, maybe he just roamed quite far from home and has gotten lost, and no-one has called about him because if they did see him roaming they'd probably just think nothing of it, assuming he lived around there.

On the other hand, what if he has gotten hurt and limped away somewhere, somewhere where he can't get home and where no-one can see him. He could be lying somewhere hurt... or worse, unseen by people, and therefore no-one has found him and called us.

So far we (my mother and I) have called the local police station, who put us through to a place where all homeless, missing and injured animals are brought in. They have told us that they will inform us when/if he is brought in, or if a cat of similar discription is brought in (in case he has lost his collar or something).

Tomorrow my mother is also going to put up a few ads around, on shop boards, and in the local paper. We are also going to put up some "missing cat" fliers around the place, on lamposts and such, in case anyone has seen him.

I just don't know what I'm going to do if something has happened to him, and the waiting is killing me.
