I am so gutted D:
Oct. 29th, 2008 11:10 pmWell for anyone who knows how much I love Doctor Who, and especially the 10th Doctor, and have heard the news will automatically know what this journal is about... presumably the exact same thing all other 10th Doctor/David Tennnant fans are writing about.
Yes, David Tennant hs just confirmed on stage at the National Television Awards that after filming the 4 episodes of Doctor Who in 2009 he will be leaving the show, and wont be doing another series in 2010, as I had so hoped he would D: D: D':
I am so crushed, it feels like someone has nicked my best friend! They say the first Doctor you see is nearly always your favourite, and David Tennant was my first Doctor. Due to me somehow missing the first series of the show when it was first shown on TV, I saw the 2nd series first when it was on TV (and then had to get the first series on DVD).
I seriously wanted one more series with Tennant because of Moffat taking over the writing for the 2010 series, and I always love Moffat's episodes. I seriously wanted to see Tennant as the Doctor for a whole series of Moffat episodes.
I guess I can see Tennant's point though, he doesn't want to outstay his welcome as the Doctor, and wants to leave while it's still fun, before it turns into a job for him, which is totally understandable, so I say good luck to him.
To quote what he said: "I love this part, and I love this show so much that if I don't take a deep breath and move on now I never will, and you'll be wheeling me out of the Tardis in my bath chair. I think it's better to go when there's a chance that people might miss you, rather than to hang around and outstay your welcome" *sniff* :(
( Cut for title and cast spoilers of the Christmas episode )
Really though, to be frank, I can't say I care that much about who will be the 11th. Then will always be THE Doctor to me. I just want some time to mourn the forthcoming demise of Ten, and I'm not even sure I'll continue watching after Ten has gone.
At least we'll still get the 4 episodes next year, and the Christmas episode this year, but I'll still miss my Doctor *more sniffles* :(
