Firstly I want to say sorry to anyone who has messaged me or made comments and I haven't replied yet. It's been another turbulent week. I just found out my cat, James, has cancer. They're going to do a second biopsy on her next week to find out the condition of her lymph nodes to see how far the cancer has spread and whether they can do anything for her. :/
Anyway, on to this weeks Ashes to Ashes and Doctor Who reviews, in my usual rambly style. So obviously, as usual, there are *adopts a Rivers Song voice* spoilers... and bad language!
Ok, so the first and obvious thing I must point out as a die hard Sam/Gene shipper was the squee worthy graffiti moment of awesomeness as shown in my icon *points to icon* Gene ♥ Sam IS CANON NOW!!! Bwahahahaha! Well... alright, so maybe not quite, but even still. The A2A crew really know how to give fan service to us slashers!
Another good episode, although it had a sadly predictable outcome. I knew from pretty early in the episode that Louise was going to turn out to be on the wrong side. Although I didn't figure out quite how. Chris was pretty scary in this episode. Before this I could never imagine him being able to kick someone's arse in the way he did here! I awwww'ed over jealous Shaz. Still sad that her and Chris can't sort it out.
Keats staying with Louise and conforting her as she was dying brought out a dichotomy of feelings. If this were a normal police show I would have been touched by it, seeing Keats as someone who was just trying to comfort a dying woman in her final moments. However, in this context it just came off as creepy. Like he was somehow sending her on her way. I think all this weird stuff, with Keats, and Gene and Sam, the half-face copper, the creepy coffin moment has fucked with my head! Now I am suspicious of everything.
Litton next week FTW!

A MUCH better episode than the last two episodes have been. We're back to a good story and creepy monsters. Yes, the angels still creep me out, and, quite frankly, the dying ones are even creepier! The bit with Amy trapped in the trailer with the angel on the TV creeped me the fuck out!!! Reminded me of The Ring movie. The Doctor is back to being intelligent, and doing what he does best, yay! This series might just win me over yet after the last couple of poor episodes had rekindled my previous doubts. But poor old Bob, we liked Bob!
I am still disliking River's smug, arrogant, and know-it-all attitude. However, I am interested in where they're going with her character. The secret she spoke about that would make the Doctor reluctant to help them. It would improve her character greatly, IMO, if this secret of her turns out to make her a darker character. I like the theories that came about before this episode that she may be a bad character who has been playing the Doctor all along.
The fact that she knows Ancient High Gallifreyan is intriguing. I suppose the Doctor could have taught it to her. But also, WTF about the TARDIS noise? Saying that they're not meant to sound like that. All TARDISes sound like that the last time I checked, not just the Doctor's. Amy was still cool in this, although sadly getting over-shadowed by River at the moment.
Also, WTF was up with them putting that advertisement for that Graham Norton show on near the end? Right during an intense scene too! The Beeb have never done that before. I thought that was the sort of thing that the TV license fee was supposed to stop happening?
Excuse the extra ramblyness of the reviews this week, and any mistakes/typos. My mind is all over the place at the moment! Anyway, roll on next weekend!
