Dental update!
Jan. 30th, 2008 02:39 amWell, on Friday I had my wisdom teeth removed on the left side of my mouth, along with sorting out a couple of cavities, and fixing a tooth which I broke ages ago, but never got fixed due to my needle phobia. I had to have 2 family members with me, so my mum and my aunt went with me. They explained everything, and got me to sign the consent form to everything.
The doctors assured me that nothing they were using on my had any animal products in, which was my major concern, even the materal used for the stitches they assured me was man made material, and not catgut like I was worried it was (apparently they don't use catgut sutures at all in the UK anymore). So that was a big relief.
Everything with the anaesthetic went fine, I remember them putting the mask on, everything going slightly dizzy, and that's it. I woke up dry heaving up blood, which they assured me was a normal reaction, and the blood was just from my mouth and probably a bit which I swallowed. I slept most the weekend, only getting up to rinse my mouth out with salt water as they said I should.
It's been a pretty painful few days. I've been taking painkillers to help, which they do a bit, but they don't take the pain away completely. The biggest issue has been eating. It's been too painful to eat anything, even soft foods, so I've been living off chocolate soya milk, coffee, water, and fruit smoothie over the last few days, which has left me kinda dizzy and weak, and bloody hungry too!!
I'm hoping to get some spring veg soup today, and at least try to manage that, even if it is painful. The darn excess material from the stitches is driving me nuts too! The pain does seem to be lessening finally, although it's going to take at least another week for the stitches to dissolve and my jaw to start feeling normal again.
Just got the second appointment, to do the teeth on the other side, to look forward too... oh joy! But it'll be worth it in the end,
Stay Beautiful,
Aissa.
P.S. Excuse any typos/spelling mistakes, bloody dizzyness means I no type very good!
