This week's spoliery reviews for Ashes to Ashes and Doctor Who. Phew! We're one episode from the end of Ashes to Ashes and already halfway through this series of Doctor Who. How time flies. I hope next Friday/Saturday flies this way just as quickly!

OMFG THIS IS INTENSE!!!

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest! If someone told me during series one of A2A that I would be this excited and involved with series three I would never have believed them. Series one I really wasn't fussed with thinking it was nowhere near as good as LoM, and didn't even finish it, I just read the reviews of the episodes from the fourth one onwards. Series two was much improved and while I did get more involved with it it was still pretty casually.

However this third series has totally blown me away! With the exception of Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Life on Mars I have never been as intensely interested in a programme, or as eager/anxious to find out how it's all going to end. I actually had the shakes at certain points in this episode. Before this weeks episode I had a dozen different theories on how it's going to pan out, and now I don't know it any of them are going to be true!

The thing with Life on Mars, is that despite all the build up, the actual conclusion to the series was pretty straight forward. Mostly because the "weirdness" only affected Sam. However, in this series it is clearly affecting more than just Alex. First with Shaz hearing the music and seeing stars, then Ray, and now even Chris (and what was up with that police whistle, and the laughing in the cupboard? That was creepy!). What was up with that guy asking Chris how Alex could know about Mandela and then disappearing?

SO. MANY. QUESTIONS! That was Nelson's voice Chris heard, what's up with that? What is on those tapes? What really happened to Sam? Who is the dead half-faced copper and how is Gene involved with that? Why is it affecting the others; Chris, Ray and Shaz too? How involved is Keats in all this? Has Alex given up on getting back to the present day and to Molly?

What the actual fuck is going on?! I sure as hell don't know but I can't wait to find out next week! I may not like the eventual answers to these questions (though I totally believe Gene when he says he didn't kill Sam, even if I don't entirely believe the story he gave to Alex) and I am prepared for that, but I am still dying to find out!

Also, I am still wishing someone would punch Keats right in his smug face! So next week we find out what it's all about, and who Gene really is. Bring it!

One word: fantastic! Another brilliant episode this week. It really had some great lines in it. A lot of light-heartedness and humour at the start, which I always like of an episode before the serious stuff kicks in.

I am still hoping that this isn't just because it's a non-Moffat episode that I liked it so much. I really do want to like the Moffat stuff too. A great concept for an episode, and with the twist at the end of both the worlds being false, which I totally didn't see coming. It had some wonderfully chilling (if you'll excuse the pun) scenes, when the TARDIS was freezing, both inside and out, and when Rory "died".

I have to say that Amy's "then what's the point of you?" when Rory "died" and the Doctor confessed that he couldn't save him automatically made me think of the similarities to Gwen's "what's the point of you, Jack fucking Harkness?" line to Jack in Torchwood when Rhys "died" and Jack said he couldn't bring him back. Although, thankfully, that's where the similarities end in my eyes to Amy and Gwen.

The Dream Lord I thought was an interesting character, and then the further twist of the reveal that he was actually the Doctor was intriguing. Especially that flash of him where the Doctor's reflection should have been at the end. I wish they had spend a little longer talking about that, they seemed to gloss over it rather quickly.

Again I'm not fussed on the whole Amy wanting the Doctor thing, we have had this plot line too many times in NuWho! Give it a rest! I'm really hoping that now she witnessed Rory "die" and realised how much she loved him as a result it will cut out the love/lust over the Doctor sub-plot. I also felt kinda sorry for Rory, that he wanted so much for the Leadworth world to be true.

I could go on and on, but I wont. So I'll just repeat that this was a fantastic episode! I really hope I can say the same of the next one. After all, we will be having NuWho Silurians in that one, yay!

I know! Ohmigosh, I spent much of S1 feeling vaguely grumpy ^^ but the last two seasons have just blown me away! And yeah, there are ridiculous amounts of questions, I really hope they can actually answer at least most of them in just one episode.

There has to be a punch in the face for Keats, surely? *hopeful*

I too am sick of the lovestruck companion, as you know, but at least with this they... personified the conflict in an interesting way and at least they're keeping it moving rather than having it drag on in the background with everyone moping. And yes, I felt bad for Rory, especially when he was saying "nothing bad could ever happen here" and I'd already known about the killer old people... *pats him*

Heh yeah, I know what you mean. It's going to be a hell of a lot they'll need to cram into the last episode for all the questions to be answered. I just hope we're not going to be left with more questions by the time they're finished!

A punch preferably delivered by Gene *g*

I am really hoping that Rory will be where Amy's romantic/lustful intentions will lie from now on, after seeing him "die". However, I wont hold my breath that they'll keep to that. I remember hoping the same about Gwen with regards to Rhys after he "died" in TW, and hoped that after he came back Gwen would stop lusting over Jack and realise how much she loved Rhys... and no such luck!

Come on A2A. You can do it. I have faith in you!

Yes, definitely a Gene!punch! It would be beautiful.

It'll be annoying if her realisation after his "death" doesn't stick. But it felt pretty definining for her character, so... fingers crossed?
