Monitor did crap out on me :(

So yeah, just as I was saying how I thought my old PC monitor was probably going to crap out on me... it crapped out on me the following night. I ended up having to buy an emergency cheap monitor to tide me over for now. However, this monitor, being so cheap, doesn't have built in speakers, and my old separate speakers (which I haven't had to use for years since my old monitor did have built in ones) don't seem to work anymore.

So it seems I am currently without sound on my PC until I can save up enough to either buy a better monitor with built in speakers, or some separate speakers that actually work! Fortunately my birthday is at the end of next month so I should get some money then to put towards it. :D

Sorry to hear that! As a quick fix, you could take mp3 player headphones and stick them in the headphone "out" slot on the computer itself. Some monitors, I think, also have these to plug headphones into. Not practicable long-term, but would help to let you listen to stuff you really "must" listen to, at least while you are seated at the computer.

Ah, of course, thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't thought of that. A good short term fix until I can get something better :)

Thanks for the offer, sweetie *hugs* but it would probably cost a fortune to post something like that from the US to the UK. I should be able to get some speakers with my birthday money next month.

Agh, what a pain - at least you got something to tide you over though! A dead monitor is what killed my last laptop :(

Ah, that sucks. That's the problem with laptops, once something like the keyboard or monitor break on them you can't just get replacements. :/

Definitely :( But it was a pretty old laptop, so I was more grateful that it was something like the monitor giving out rather than my hard drive going kaput.
